GCMHP conducted a specialized training course on "Psychological First Aid" for 23 specialists, facilitators, and trainers. This training was part of the project "Improving the Availability of Youth and their Caregivers to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Quality Services in Gaza Strip." in partnership with the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation - Enabel, and funded by the Belgian Government.
This training is part of GCMHP's ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of staff working in the field of psychosocial support, enabling them to effectively respond to the growing psychological needs of adolescents in the difficult humanitarian conditions in Gaza Strip.
The training focused on equipping participants with the essential knowledge and skills to provide psychological first aid during crises. It also introduced the concept of "persistent trauma" within the Gaza context and highlighted the most prominent psychological and behavioral symptoms that adolescents may experience. The training included practical and interactive exercises designed to strengthen intervention and support skills, as well as familiarizing participants with the program's referral criteria and mechanisms.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the importance of the training, stressing that the experiences and knowledge they gained will contribute to developing their professional performance and improving the quality of psychological and social services provided to beneficiaries, thereby enhancing the ability of local communities to adapt and withstand crises.
