“GCMHP Conducted a Group Counseling and Psychosocial Support Sessions for Adolescents”

  • Previews 59

GCMHP has conducted group counseling and psychosocial support sessions for adolescents. This initiative is part of a project "Improving the Availability of Youth and their Caregivers to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Quality Services in Gaza Strip." in partnership with the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation - Enabel, and funded by the Belgian Government.

These sessions were organized in response to the growing psychological needs arising from the difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. They targeted adolescents and young people affected by the repercussions of the war, focusing on helping them understand the psychological and emotional impacts resulting from exposure to trauma and ongoing stressors.

The sessions covered several key areas, including identifying emotions such as fear, anxiety, and sadness, learning healthy ways to express these feelings, strengthening positive coping skills, building social support, and developing strategies to help participants manage stress and psychological trauma in safe and effective ways.

Furthermore, the sessions provided a safe space for participants to share their experiences, which helps alleviate psychological distress and fosters a sense of safety and belonging.
