GCMHP conducted two awareness sessions at a shelter in western Gaza City, targeting
women affected by displacement and ongoing conflict. This initiative formed
part of GCMHP’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and provide psychosocial
support amid the escalating humanitarian challenges.
The first session focused
on gender-based violence (GBV), introducing participants to different forms of
violence—physical, psychological, andeconomic—andhighlightingitsnegative effects on mental health and
family relationships. The session emphasized the importance of reporting
violence, creating safe environments for women and girls, and enabling access
to protection and support services.
The
second session addressed child protection, discussing key risks faced by
children in displacement settings, including psychological effects, negative
coping behaviors, and deprivation of basic needs. Mothers were guided on how to
recognize early psychological signs in children and strengthen their sense of
safety and support.
Both
sessions included an overview of GCMHP’s services, particularly the work of the
Psychological First Aid (PFA) field teams, which provide immediate
